Deborah Asmather is primarily a print based artist from Hobart. She is undertaking a residency at the art exchange to complete a body of work detailing a journey from east to west. The colours and exspansiveness of the outback location contrast previous field studies at the walls of Jerusalem National Park, Tasmania.

'The sky is large here and the eye can stretch to the horizon. Being so close to the inland region allows one to contemplate space and journeys undertaken in this space; such as those of the camel drivers in the 1800's, the epic expeditions in search of the inland sea, and the tradition of 'walkabout'; by extension, all 'wisdom' of the desert.'
