SUMAGAN SIVANESAN stayed at the at the Broken Hill Art Exchange Inc residency for two weeks in July 2009
The aim of Sumugan Sivanesan’s residency was to conduct a video production workshop for the Nursing Academy: Stepping back, Looking Forward Program Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (BH UDRH). The workshop was held at the Broken Hill art Exchange Inc. with high school students. They edited and produced a promotional video for the program with footage taken by students at the academy. Susan Thomas from the Art Exchange Inc attended the academy days and provided raw footage and interviews for the group to edit.
Sumugan Sivanesan is an artist that maintains a multi disciplinary practice across installation, sound, video and performance. Often working collaboratively, he is broadly concerned with issues of globalisation, de-colonization and cultural exchange in a networked world. He is a core member of theweathergroup_U, a collective formed to pursue experimental methods of media production, digital story telling, and community-based knowledge exchange.
